The Ministry of the Environment at the TD Great Shoreline Clean-up

October 8, 2009 9:33 AM

On Saturday, September 26, 2009, Ministry of the Environment staff, along with members of the public, went down to the water's edge at Lake Simcoe's Centennial Beach in downtown Barrie, to do their part for the TD Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup.

This event provided a great opportunity for community groups, families, and individuals to take action to better their local environment and be part of a national conservation initiative that sees Canadians across the country cleaning up local beaches and shorelines.

Information collected during the TD Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup is provided to the International Coastal Cleanup for their worldwide statistics and reference.

Experts from the Ministry of the Environment were also on hand to discuss Ontario's Lake Simcoe Protection Plan and what the Ontario government is doing to improve the health and sustainability of Lake Simcoe.
