Accessible Community Supports in Lanark County

McGuinty Government Helps Build Accessible Services For People With Disabilities
People with disabilities in Lanark County now have easier access to programs that help them become active members of the community.
Ontario is giving the Mills Community Support Corporation more than $718,000 to help pay for a new accessible home. The growing organization provides supportive housing, home care and day programs and activities to people with a variety of special needs - including people with physical and developmental disabilities.
The new accessible building will give people with all types of abilities better access to Mills Community Support Corporation's services, and will include features such as:
- accessible entrances
- a meeting and training area
- a therapeutic room for clients, and
- a new area for day programs and activities.
These funds are part of a $7.6-million provincial investment in agencies serving people with a developmental disability. These investments will help agencies assist more people while improving accessibility, safety and security.

- The Mills Community Support Corporation was established in the mid-1970s and currently assists more than 700 people with special needs in Lanark County.
