McGuinty Government Helping Increase Local Food Production

Refurbishing a family-owned ice cream business with new technology will help meet consumer

Through the Rural Economic Development Program, Ontario is helping Kawartha Dairy Limited to:

  • create up to 10 new jobs and retain 86 existing positions
  • install new technologies to improve production
  • improve material handling capacity, food safety and quality control
  • train employees to operate and maintain new systems
  • increase demand for milk from local farmers

  • Kawartha Dairy Limited is receiving up to $620,000 through the Rural Economic Development Program.
  • Since 2003, Ontario has invested over $87 million in 258 projects through the Rural Economic Development Program.
