A London manufacturer of high-quality countertops is off to a rock-solid start with the official opening of its new facility.
Hanwha L&C Canada Inc. is now employing 73 people and will grow to 120 when the factory is operating at full capacity. The factory produces a durable high-quality countertop stone surface using a process that minimizes the impact on the environment. It will supply major building materials companies and stores like Ikea and Rona.
Ontario provided a $10-million loan through the Advanced Manufacturing Investment Strategy program (AMIS) to help build the new factory.
Hanwha has exceeded the job target identified in its investment agreement and is already planning future expansion. In about three years, the company plans to add another 100 jobs and an additional 180,000 square feet to the factory.
Investing in people and partnering with key industries is part of the government's plan for the economy.
