Minister Encourages Parties to Consider Interests of College Students And Return to Bargaining Table

January 13, 2010 5:49 PM

I am very concerned that the ongoing contract dispute between faculty and Colleges has the potential to interrupt classes for thousands of Ontario students.

Ontario needs a highly-skilled, highly-educated workforce to compete for jobs in a global economy. Interruption of classes compromises the interests of students and their families and undermines our shared economic goals.

I urge our Colleges and the Ontario Public Service Employees Union to keep the best interests of students in mind and return to the bargaining table as soon as possible to negotiate an agreement.

John Milloy
Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities
